Lynn Richardson
Joliet Area South Suburban Alumnae Chapter
Delta Challenge National Coordinator

Lynn Richardson, known to thousands as the “Mortgage Guru,” is much more than another mortgage professional helping families fulfill the American Dream. The Chicago native is creator and host of “Wealth ‘n Real Estate” (WVON 1690 AM) talk radio in Chicago, author of “Living Check to Monday:  The Real Deal About Money, Credit, and Financial Security,” motivational speaker and creator of The Road to Homeownership and Creating Family Wealth, a college-level curriculum for knowledge-seeking consumers offered at the City Colleges of Chicago. Lynn Richardson is a self-made enterprise.

A seasoned professional in the financial and mortgage industries, Richardson has used her savvy business sense and risen to become a corporate success and thriving entrepreneur. After completing her education at Northwestern University and Loyola University, Richardson became a public figure in the mortgage industry by mastering innovative approaches to securing hard to get mortgages for first-time buyers in the urban market—better known as Richardson’s Mortgage Approval Plan (MAP). As a result, Richardson has closed more than $100 million in mortgages across the nation and is widely known as the “Mortgage Guru” for her ability to help families with troubled financial histories obtain loan approvals comparable to those with good credit.

As a member of and national coordinator for Delta Sigma Theta’s National Homeownership Initiative, which serves to educate and inform audiences about the homeownership process, Richardson has spoken at numerous venues across the country to spread the message of financial responsibility and generational wealth.  She is also a member of the Les Brown Speaker Network and has often opened for the famed motivational speaker to rave reviews.

In 2004, Richardson wrote and published her first book “Living Check to Monday: The Real Deal About Money, Credit and Financial Security,” considered a “how-to” manual, according to Les Brown, that touches the lives of everyday people. To date, the book has sold more than 3000 copies.

Richardson believes that the foundation for 21st Century racism is based more on economics than the color of one’s skin, and accordingly, continues to educate minorities about the benefits of homeownership as the foundation for building wealth and eluding poverty. Her mission is to increase the homeownership rate in emerging market communities while promoting financial literacy, economic empowerment, and social and racial equality in underprivileged communities worldwide.

Richardson is married with three children and currently resides on the South Side of Chicago, has received numerous awards and acknowledgements, and has been featured in Jet Magazine, Rolling Out Magazine, and several other periodicals across the nation in recognition and acknowledgment of her expertise.
